Ballet is the foundation for further study of classical ballet. Ballet Technique classes (for students age 6 and up) at Brava provides the foundation for training a well rounded dancer. Our focus is on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body, legs and feet. Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combination.
This class is for Kindergarten dancers.
Students will focus on basic ballet positions and steps while including imaginative stories, improvisation and props, such as scarves and ribbons.
Petite Ballet 1 and 2
Classes are designed to introduce the fundamentals of classical ballet technique.
Students will focus on correct placement at the barre, in center and moving across the floor. In the second year they will continue to develop strength, grace and flexibility, Our Petite Ballet 1 & 2 classes are both fun and disciplined.
Level 1 and 2
Students' knowledge of classical ballet steps will broaden. The children will become familiar with the French terminology used in class.
Level 3 and 4
1 hour to 1.25
Student must be registered for 2 times per week.
The intensive ballet classes are for students who are committed to taking ballet class twice a week. The students will focus on strengthening technique and focus.
Level 5 and 6
1.25 hour class
Student must be registered for 2 times per week. Strongly encouraged to take 3 times per week
Students will continue to focus on classical ballet technique while develop the strength to learn steps and combinations of increasing difficulty. Level 6 is for students with a solid understanding of ballet technique and placement. Class consists of barre and center work as we work towards perfecting their technique. Longer combinations and variations are a highlight of this class.
Requires Ballet Level 3 and 4
This class is geared toward developing strength and flexibility in the dancer's feet, legs and body in order to facilitate the transition to pointe work. Please note that participation in this class does not ensure that you will move on to pointe work.
Pointe 1 - 4
This is the first year of pointe work. Requires two ballet technique classes per week. Participation is by invitation only.
Girls wear leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers with elastic sewn across the insteps. Hair is worn neatly secured in a bun with bobby pins.
Kindergarten Ballet — girls wear pink leotard.
Petit Ballet 1 and 2 — girls wear lavender leotard.
COMPLETE DRESS CODE
Boys wear black pants, white shirt, black ballet shoes.
